SUGGESTED AFTERCARE
FOR TATTOOS

Congratulations on your new tattoo!
Following these instructions will get you through the healing process. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to call or come in.

The DO’s
• Remove the bandage after two to four hours. Wet the bandage
with water if needed.
• Wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild antibacterial
liquid soap. Don't scrub it, dab it. Gently pat dry with a paper towel.
• Apply a thin layer of ointment. We suggest Tattoo Goo.
• Cleanse your tattoo twice daily, using lukewarm water and a mild
antibacterial liquid soap.
• Use ointment during the first three days, 3 or 4 times a day.
Make sure your hands are clean before touching your tattoo.
• After the first three days, apply a thin layer of moisturizing lotion
4 to 6 times a day for the next 2 to 3 weeks. We suggest Curel,
Lubriderm or another unscented lotion.
• Normal healing time is 2 to 4 weeks.
• Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while it's healing.
• After your tattoo is healed, always use sunblock (30+ SPF) while
in the sun. And moisturize your skin with lotion. It'll help keep
your colors fresh.

  The DON’Ts
• Do not re-bandage the tattoo.
• Do not use antibiotic or anti-bacterial ointments, as they may
cause allergic reactions.
• Do not pick or scratch your tattoo. Flaking or peeling is a natural
part of the healing process.
• Do not soak your tattoo during healing. Showering is ok, but no
baths, hot tubs, pools, etc. These activities can ruin your tattoo.
• Do not use a tanning bed during the healing process.

Remember, it takes two people to have a successful tattoo experience -
a skilled tattoo artist, and a customer knowledgeable about
taking care of the tattoo during the healing time.
